iMessage Archive

I know how to delete the history in my Messages folder in Finder by deleting chat.db, chat.db-shm and chat db-wal.

Since I don't have any need to keep previous iMessage conversations, is it safe to delete the contents of the Archive folder, in the Messages folder in my Library?
