SMB connection problems Mac OS X 10.8

I have two retina MBP 10.8 machines, one connects to SMB shares within 3 seconds, autho and all with no problems. The second machine does not allow connection. I can ping the server, however, when I 'Connect to Server' the progress bar sits there for 1 to 3 minutes then asks for autho, waits 30 to 60 seconds and then fails.

Firewall has been checked and there is no other firewall on it that I can find.

Please help?!
