AXIS 207W Network Camera iCloud = no emails

I have an AXIS 207W Network camera. It has many features. I can "see" it over the Internet and check it via a web interface. I can also set it to "trigger" when it detects motion and e-mail me a series of several images it has recorded of the motion.

The camera sends me the e-mails via my iCloud e-mail. Or at least it did with no problems until Sunday, October 7, 2012. That day it stopped sending pictures. I cycled the power on the camera and tested it's e-mail capability and it worked. But that didn't last long. I got a few e-mails from the camera on Monday, October 8, 2012. When I tested the e-mail capability, it failed and gave this message:

Primary mail server: Error - SMTPclient: Error! Cannot find any commonly agreed SASL mechanism...

I had been using these settings:

Primary mail server: smtp.mac.com

Primary server port: 587

and my iCloud e-mail username without the @mac.com or @me.com attached. That has worked for several years, but now doesn't.

I looked around and found this page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864

with this information:

SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

  • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
  • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
  • Password: Your iCloud password

I tried those settings, but got the same error.

Does anyone have any ideas of what's going on or how to fix it? Thanks!
