Freezing in Finder>Downloads on Macbook Pro w/ Retina

Hello,

I am a new Mac/Apple user. The very first day I purchased my Macbook Pro w/ retina and began download pictures and applications, everything worked seamlessly until I opened Finder and clicked on "Downloads."

Downloads is the only folder that freezes when I click on it in Finder. I don't know what the issue is. I have had to force restart my Mac by pressing the power button because it would become competely unrepsonsive, not even a spinning wheel that I see people talk about. It just sits there.

Anyone else have similar issues? Note: I did upgrade to Mountain Lion..
