Locked out of iMovie project - aagghh.

I'm using iMac, OSX 10.8.2 with iMovie 11.

Not an expert but familiar with this.


I have worked on a project for some time, 20 minutes long. Last night, while beat marking the audio, it seized up. After a restart, I have been unable to edit or export the project. When I start iMovie now, I can see all my projects including this one. I can edit any of the others. I can highlight this one, but as soon as I do, the "Edit Project" button dims, so I cannot edit or export the project. I can however still see its contents by skimming it while in the project library window.


I'm not getting any error message at all.


Is there any chance of recovering this? (Sadly, there is a lot of work since the last backup - i.e. never backed up).

Odds are that the project is corrupted and cannot be recovered. However, it is worth a chance to trash your preference files and try to open it again. The ideal would be to trash preferences and then open your most recent backup, but still I think it is worth a try.


You may want to go to iMovie Preferences and note your current settings so you can reset them later to the way you want them.
