how to save text edit file as .chordpro for OnSong ipad App

Followed you tube instructions to get song chords to copy and save ther file as( .chopro or .chordpro) but the file is still a .rtf

Can't find a way to get a screen that will allow me to NOT "append the file name" - so it will not have the .rtf

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), still get.rtf extension in OnSong
