Why not?
What happens when you try?
Are you trying to sync via iTunes on a PC? Have you set up other contact sync accounts such as iCloud or Gmail (via Exchange)?
Should I open another post - not sure because this is exactly my problem as far as contacts are concerned anyway. Google Calendar Sync keeps my calendars synced OK.
Here is my situation:
I have iTunes set up to sync with my Outlook 2010 contacts but it does not sync in any new contacts from my iPhone. The message in iTunes says "Your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air. Over the air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone".
On my iPhone under Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars I have iCloud nominated as an account. In particular under the iCloud settings I have Contacts set to ON.
I set up IiCloud in an efffort to sort out this whole problem, but a new contact on my iPhone is not getting synced to iCloud when I go to Contacts on my iPhone and click the circular icon at top left.
It is not possible to sync contacts over the air on the device and to a supported app on the computer via iTunes. Syncing can be one or the other, but not both.
If you want contacts in iCloud and outlook, install iCloud Control Panel on the computer and sync via that utility between Outllok and iCloud.
I have the iCloud client app installed on my PC which doesn't help. It does not have any direct facility for syncing contacts as far as I can see. You aren't suggesting that I need to create an iCloud email address to achieve this functionality?
😕
The iCloud Control Panel does allow syncing between iCloud and Outlook.
You already have an iCloud account if you are syncing contacts.
Just curious, why do you have the iCloud Control Panel installed if you do not believe that you have an iCloud account?
I have an iCloud account - all my contacts are there - at least most of them. My problem is when I add a new contact to my iphone, getting that change into the iCloud repository.
😊
Do you have contact syncing turned on in the device? If so, contacts automatically sync to the cloud.
Settings > iCloud > Contacts should be set to ON
Contacts Is set to ON in the iCloud settings on my iPhone..
I have followed procedure discussed at http://transfer-iphone-contacts.blogspot.com.au/p/iphone-contacts-sync-via-iclou d.html
I tried turning Contacts OFF and ON again. I got prompted to Merge my contacts but nothing happens after doing so i.e. no contacts were added to iCloud.
😟
I have the same situation. I even created a new outlook user and reinstalled software. When it was set up the iCloud Add-In was activated. Now if I try to acticate Outlook 2010 shuts down. Oulook only seems to work on its own the "dangerous" icloud add-in disabled. How the heck and they sync if that add-in is not allowed to funtion?
