iphone 5 purple flare and possible fix question....

Does anyone know if there has been any difference in the purple flare issue on the Iphoe 5 if you have a case installed? I ask because if you can supposedly cover your hand over the phone and block the light a little the issue goes away, correct? If so, don't most cases make it so the camera is now recessed a little? Would this act the same was as using your hand as a shield? All the videos I have seen on YouTube so far are showing the camera issue shot from phones that don't have a case. That's what I'm curious about. Thanks!
