Was going to buy the 6th gen until I found out the 7th gen will be released very shortly. It will be used mostly for the gym, so wondering if the Nike+ Sport Kit will be supported?
I know on the 6th gen the reciever connects to the 30 pin port, whereas I'm not sure what will happen with the new 'lightning' connection.

Yes Nike+ is built in and you're able to use the inbuilt pedometer.
I was meaning the footpod that you fit to the base of your Nike shoes. The thing that records GPS. I know it needs a reciever for the 6th gen, I was just wondering if it won't be compatible due to the new lightning connector.
It may work with the necessary adapter.

I don't believe the Nike+ sensor uses GPS. If so, then the earlier Nanos would have a GPS receiver which is not the case. As the guide says, I think the new Nano will have inbuilt support for Nike+ and you won't need an adapter.

If the footpod doesn't have GPS then I'm happy just to use the pedometer. I wanted the pod if I was running outside of the gym. However with winter fast approaching I don't think I'll be venturing outside for quite a while so I was going to use the time on the treadmill to try and improve.
