How do I cancel a purchase if I haven't clicked accept yet and how do I clear this app from the purchases list?

Yes, I am confused---new to Apple products---and I am talking about iMovie, iPhoto, and Garageband. My Macbook Pro was provided by the school I work at with those three programs installed on it and I noticed the upgrade alert on the app store icon. I tried to update through this and entered my apple id that I set up with a new iphone. I think it is trying to sell me new copies of the programs. I obviously don't want to buy them, just update the existing programs. Thanks for your help.
The ID for a purchase or update must be the same as has been previously used or registered. I suspect that the school providing it may be why you cannot use it to update unless, that is, they tell you the ID.
I need more specifics here. Is the computer on lend to you, or did you purchase it outright from the school? Is this pre-used or what?
The school provided (on loan I guess you would say) these brand new to all teachers and students in the high school. I have emailed the school tech guys about this but at the present they have just asked what apps were involved.
