I have an imac and an AOL email account. A random empty folder appears in the AOL mail section and when I try to delete it, it says I can't because "The IMAP command “DELETE” failed with server error: DELETE failed." What does that mean?

It may be some peculiarity with AOL. Can you go to Mail on the AOL site and see it there? Possibly delete it there, or change its settings?
I have not used AOL for a very long time, but AOL does seem to "march to the beat of its own drummer."
Open a Finder window > Select Go | Go to Folder… from the menu. Type "~/Library/Mail/V2". Then try to look for the folder you want to delete and exclude it.

Or simply Control-Click (or Right-Click) on the mailbox folder and choose Delete?
That didn't work. It didn't find the folder. Thanks for trying to help!
When I try to delete it, I get that message that says I can't. It also won't let me rename it. And the folder is empty!
