iPhone 5 won't turn on

So I drained the iphone 5 of the batteries when I first got it, i then tried to charge it, but it would only show the red battery symbol, even after about 30 minutes. then I tried to restore it by holding the home/onoff button for a few seconds, the screen shut off, now it wont turn back on... ive left it charging (or not, the screen is still black) for hours... it wont budge! help!!
