how much power can a macbookpro provide for a usb ext hd?
I want to get 2 ext hds, for photos, one primary and one back up. the portables are powered by usb. will the mbp provide enough power? 8 watts?

Would Suggest you get a Self Powered USB hub...
Use a Logitech 4 Port myself... been working Fine for several years now.
