I am having a problem with saving my Desktop Background.

I can change it, but after restarting the computer, it reverts back to the previous Background.

I am using OS X 10.8.2 on a new 21.5 in. iMac.

Open Finder, select Go > Go to Folder, type ~/Library/Preferences, delete com.apple.desktop.plist and reboot

    Thank you!

Actually, I just got off the phone with Apple and they had me do the same thing, along with some additional items (I also had a ScreenSaver problem) listed below:

Here is a list of procedures we went through:

    - Navigated to ~/Library

    - From /Preferences, deleted:

    ByHosts folder

    com.apple.desktop.plist

    com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.plist

    com.apple.screensaver.plist

    com.apple.systempreferences.plist

    - Deleted contents of Library/Saved Application State folder

    - Emptied trash, restarted computer

    Thanks again,

    Ken
