My connection regularly flashes to a green screen, the picture jumps, sound is delayed etc ... any ideas how I can improve this?

This is the reason why I have come on to the forum to get advice. I have had the flashing green screen and picture jumps and freezes but the sound quality doesn't seem to be affected. I also get a solid green screen.
Coincidently I am also on virgin media broadband, but I don't see why this is the cause of the problem.
Is anyone else having significant issues with Facetime connections on Virgin Media wi-fi in the UK?
