my ipod 4g is frozen wount do any thing but show apple icon turn off then back on and computer does not see it help please

I have a IPOD 4 g that is frozen on the apple icon my computer or itunes can not even read that its conected how can i fix this please someone?

iPod touch, iOS 4.1
