You could just clone a copy of the whole disk. That could be done with Disk Utility's Restore function or a third-party utility like Carbon Copy Cloner.
Are you trying to create a bootable installer from 10.8 or clone the 10.8 installation.
If it's the latter, Carbon Copy Cloner is an excellent cloning software. If it's the former you may want to read this link.
You can create one using the Disk Image Utility built in to the Server app.
Open SIU and go to Install OS X Mountain Lion and choose NetInstall Image, this will need the original installer in your /Applications folder. It will take a while to create the new standard image but make this and it will be located in your NetbootSPx folder which clients can boot from.
Failing that you can create custom images if required by taking an image from an existing machine and customise this. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4178.

Requires DLing and installing that app, which borks the nonserver version, which I would never recommend to anyone not intimately familiar with doing server stuff.
