macbook pro suddon reset

hi everyone,

i've had this problem for over a year now, and nobody seems to be able to give me a solution.

i've this macbook in mid 2010. alothough i've purchsed it in New york, i'm living in israel, where the offical warrenty provider is a store called "iDigital".

after about 10 months, the laptop began to freeze. every once in a while, while working (not something specific) the screen would just go black. no other solution then to shut it down and turn it back on.

i've approched iDigital with this problem, and i've been going back and forth with this problem over and over. they have changed the motherboard, i've changed the memory modules. i've done a firmware update, smb controller reset and now a private lab have changed the HD.

i've reinstalled MAC OS several times, including formmating and re-partitionaning.

i've tried Snow leopard, lion, and now mountain lion.

iDigital are claming that this is a software problem, since they did their checking, and found nothing wrong.

but how can it be a software problem, if the HD was replaced, and a fresh install was made?

since i'm living in israel, i can't get apple to acknowledge my problem that i have way back, when my laptop was still under warrenty.

i'm getting pretty desperate and pretty dissappointed.

does anyone here have any idea on what can be the problem.

thank you,

Eyal

You've been more than patient so far, so maybe some more detailed info might be useful.

Does this seem similar to this report? http://oleb.net/blog/2012/05/15-inch-mbp-mid-2010-crashing-to-black-screen/

Also, what's the temperature of your MBP on average? How often does the fan go on?

Please respond here so you and others can solve this problem.

hi,

first of all, thank you for your advices.

i've looked into the link you've attached, and this seems to be exactly what's wrong with my laptop.

i've send this link with a slightly angry email to iDigital, hope this will convince them that the problem is a hardware one.

i've installed an app for temp monitor. do you know of any specific software that can log data to files of tempature and fan speed?

thanks,

Eyal

Hello,

You can log temperatures using Terminal:

https://www.mattparkinson.eu/mac-os-10-7-temperature-log/

Also, Temperature Monitor can be used, though I don't know if it's usable with the most recent upgrades:

http://www.bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html

This is a free package for monitoring temperature, fan speed, etc:

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10220/xrg

I hope you can make a rock-solid case to iDigital.

Hi,

Thank you again :-)

i've been unable to follow through the tepaerature log,

but i did installed the temperature monitor.

while resting the temps are (all cellcius):

Battery Position 2: 27

Battery Position 3: 26

CPU A Proximity: 36

CPU A Temperature Diode: 38

Graphics Processor Chip 1: 31

Left Palm Rest: 27

Main Heatsink 2: 30

Main Heatsing 3: 29

Main Logic Board: 35

Platform Controller Hub: 38

SMART Diskt TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100: 27

CPU Core 1: 30

CPU Core 2: 31

CPU Core 3: 37

CPU Core 4: 48

While Working (not crazy loading - go-to-application-select-all-and-click-cmd-o):

Battery Position 2: 33

Battery Position 3: 30

CPU A Proximity: 61

CPU A Temperature Diode: 65

Graphics Processor Chip 1: 56

Left Palm Rest: 33

Main Heatsink 2: 50

Main Heatsing 3: 49

Main Logic Board: 52

Platform Controller Hub: 55

SMART Diskt TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100: 38

CPU Core 1: 63

CPU Core 2: 66

CPU Core 3: 68

CPU Core 4: 74

i think i have a rock solid case - i just need them to listen :-)
