How to uninstall printer drivers

I have a 64Gb MacBook Air and installed the printer drivers for an HP printer. Within a few hours of using the printer, three major faults occurred, so I returned the printer and got my money back. I'm going to buy a Canon printer now but first I want to remove the HP printer drivers and all references to it.

I'm using OS 10.7.5.

None of the information I've picked up through the communities works for me becasue they refer to menu options that don't exist on this machine.

Any help gratefully received.

First, go to System Preferences > Print and Scan and delete the printer. Then, open Finder, select Go > Go to Folder in menu bar, type /Library/Preferences/Printers and delete the files there

Thanks very much mende1. I followed your very clear instructions and it worked - all the HP references are now consigned to the dustbin. Just a shame HP don't consign their model HP2050 to the dustbin!

I have tried this on a Macbook Air OSX 10.8.2 and receive the message "The folder can't be found." At a loss as to what to do as there is no uninstaller.

In Finder, click Go from the dropdown, then select in order

Computer

MacIntosh HD

Library

Preferences

(your printer listed as folder that you want to remove) MOVE TO TRASH

also if you know you're never going to use a certain manufacturer again, you can move it to trash by

Mac HD

Library

Printers

DELETE folder of printer mfg.

I tried this, no specific HP Files, only configuration ones, trying to uninstall older printers to free up hard drive to install new HP one yikes! can anyone help
