I haven't used my itunes in a while and when i tried it tells me there is a new version. I click download now. Takes me to website and asks if I want to save it. I click yes. No downloadloading occurs and itunes never upgrades. My iphone 4s isn't recognized by old version either, so I'm stuck. I'm using windows xp with updated firefox browser.

I am using an older Firefox version on a Mac. I tried downloading iTunes and it too took me to the "thank you" screen without actually doing the download. However, I have a few media downloader utilities running on my computer and I noticed one of them activated. I was able to start the download by using it. Maybe it is something to do with Firefox, although I do have various security features on my browser so it could be one of those too.
I also have a very old copy of Safari. I tried a dwnload using it and it started immediately, again suggesting there's an issue with Apple/Firefox.
I'm thinking along the same lines as you. Something with apple/firefox since I haven't used my itunes since I updated firefox last week.
Try a different browser or method. I always have two browsers so there aren't any gaps in getting fussy pages to work.
