At my desk at home, the wall outlet is just far enough away that I use the power cord with the magsafe adapter to have plenty of cord that it is not stretched/under constand tension. Similarly, at work I leave a power cord contantly plugged in, and I just connect it to my adapter when I pull my MBP ot of the backpack in the morning (well, I did that until I bought an extra adapter I leave on my desk at work now). In both of these cases, the adapter is left on my desk at all times, and it is much easier to run the cord to the power strip, and I don't have to worry about blocking other outlets on the strip with the adapter "brick".
