Apple users only need to install the google hangout app to video chat with others - I.e android users, pc users, Mac users, Linux users, --- who ever else has the google hangouts app installed on a device can be contacted. Is this where I put a link of it in the App Store? Come on now-- its likely in one of the top apps, of some genre. It used to be called google talk.

I am an iOS user(iPads) and just got a new phone-- never had an iphone because i was never totally sold on all apple products. i have a samsung galaxy S4- so i am equally as familiar with android os- prefer it in a phone. My iPads are for my line of work.

Hi, you do not need FaceTime for Android.

Android also has its face to face app.

It is Google Talk, and you can use it to talk or video chat, or text chat, with anyone in another Android, or in a PC/Linux/Mac with Mic and Camera. And there is no need to install any app on the computers, just log into your Gmail and enable Google Chat. If a plugin is needed it will be installed the first time you use the feature.

Of course you can not talk to devices from the Apple Ecosystem, have your friends use an Android, or move yourself to Apple's products. Anything you and your friends prefer.

Good luck.

Hangouts: works with android, ios, and all desktop g+

It really, REALLY is a bad idea to use apple-only tech. Most of my friends have Galaxy S3/4 and I live in the google ecology: gmail, gdocs, g+, g-search etc. GMail and Chrome work fine on my iDevices.

Apple is not against your using non-apple tech. Its easier, I realize, but with a little work you'll find that you can get google and apple to be very synergystic.

It is all kind of backward and apple centrist thinking to "FaceTime" to android. So how about this for a thought and easy solutions.- google hangout app on your iPhone, on your ipad, on your Mac. Then anderoid users who are aware of the power of this app can contact you via their cellular netork- wifi is not needed for google Hangouts like face time requires.

Not only that google Hangouts you can video chat with multiple ppl at one time, text, share videos... Etc. google Hangouts is likely the only video chat app that is that easy to use--- all you need is the app and a gmail address. Simple. Problem solved.
