Please help I cannot use my phone at all, it has the screen of Itunes with an arrow coming from the USB cable to the itunes symbol.

You must do as indicated - connect the iPhone to iTunes and restore it.
But I will loose all of the data on my phone and I do not want to lose it.
Was iOS 5 installed on the iPhone? if so, you had the option of updating the iPhone's backup wirelessly with your iCloud, or continue updating the backup on your computer when syncing the iPhone with iTunes, which is done automatically by iTunes as the first when syncing.
All iTunes content on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer. If not, you can redownload iTunes content purchased from the iTunes Store.
Regardless, you have no choice if you want a working iPhone.
I haven't used iCloud before and I do not know which software system was on my phone.
I really do not know what to do 😟

Doesn't it do it automatically when you plug it in?

Syncing can create backups, and will if you don't backup to icloud.
I plugged my phone into my laptop to update the IOS6 software, it downloaded a lot of it then said I must restore my phone, what do I do to make it work again?
