Most likley been asked already: I have the new mackbook (retina display) and for the last few days have been getting the rainbow wheel in safari. I am only trying to load things like sky sports or bbc homepage. Any advice? Will i have picked up a virus?

Unlikely it's a virus or malware ..
The BBC site requires Flash. Uninstall the currently installed Flash plugin then reinstall new.
Uninstall > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important uninstall the old one first.
Then reinstall > http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JZEFT
Then open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Delete All
Quit and relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
Select: Clear History (also empties the cache)
Deselect the remaining boxes then click Reset.
Try the BBC site.
Hi, thansk for the reply, have tried this and i can go onto the websites easily but it still shows the wheel whenever i open up safari, or click on the shows all boomarks tab, or even when loading more than one tab, its only been doing it the last few days and never before. I downloaded google chrome and that seems to work fine?

If installed, try temporarily disabling anti virus software.
Or, it might be an extension or third party plugin...
Check Safari > Preferences > Extensions. If there are any installed, turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extension issue, back to Safari > Preferences > Security
Deselect: Enable plug ins. Quit and relaunch Safari.
If that helped, follow the instructions for troubleshooting third party add ons here.

It just comes up with a blank white page?
(I have only had the computer for about a month, i havnt really got to grips with it as yet)

Just the normal updates to the os that appear in the app store and the app updates (such as imovie etc). All i have been doing is downloading some pdf's from academic journals off university website, some patents from google?
I have the same problem. It starts loading a page then starts relaoding again and hangs up for maybe 30 seconds. During that time the "Force Quit" window says "Safari (not responding)". Turned off all exrensions and cleared cache, to no effect.
I have tried disk utility and repair permissions and thats hasnt helped either. Have had to start using google chrome for now. Hoping someone comes up with a solution.
oops, I spoke too soon. It's still doing it.
No such luck on mine. Safari still has spinning wheel. It wont let me do anything. Takes minutes to load google or any other pages.
It must be a safari issue, Chrome is working fine.
