My MacBook Pro won't start for no reason! Somebody help me!

You really need to upgrade, at least, to 10.6.8 - but I understand that you need to be able to start up to do that...


Boot from the original installations disc - either hold down the "C" or the option key whilst booting. Use Disk Utility to first verify the, if necessary, repair your internal drive. If you get the green text "everything seems to be OK..." just boot again with the option key held down and select the internal drive.


If, however, you get the red text indicating that the hard drive could not be repaired, you maybe in the market for a new hard drive. I hope that you have backup schemes in place?
