Facetime cannot contact to facetime servers

Hi,

I purchased a MacBook Pro retina Display and Facetime will not wotk.

When I click on the Facetime icon in the dock, I get a box stating the following:

"Facetime activation"

"Unable to contact Facetime server. Try again later."

While this box remains open, There is a Facetime menu at the top of the screen, except that everything is greyed out. I cannot access FaceTime's preferences.

IMessage is working fine on this computer.

Would anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hi all,

I solved the problem.

I did setup another user account with a valid Apple ID, logged in it and clicked on Facetime to see if it worked. It did work indeed. I logged out of that account and logged back into mine. Before trying Facetime again, I changed the Apple ID in the seetings of my account. I was then able to get Facetime to start. I then went into Facetime preferences and inputted the proper Apple ID and removed the invalid ID. I had put in an invalid Apple ID by mistake when I fist configured the new MacBook Pro Retina Display.

I erased the user account thereafter. Everytbing is working fine now.

Hope this helps others who might have this problem.
