Itunes opens on its own

Itunes opens on its own, starts playing, won't quit then crashes the finder. imac 10.6.8 2.66 intel core 2 duo.

I've seen one report of that happening for a person because EyeTV was set to open iTunes when an export was finished.

Could you have some application set to start iTunes after a task is completed?

Thanks, b noir. I have home sharing on, have turned off automatically update devises. Another symptom is that the itunes volume slider doesn't work anymore, it jumps back to the middle when you try to change it.
