I cannot export any iMovie videos to my camera roll!

I cannot export any iMovie videos to my camera roll--"an error occurred during export" for all resolutions. Exporting to Youtube works fine. This is a brand new iPhone 5 64gb so space is not the issue. I'm so frustrated right now! How do I fix this?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

If the video gets stuck while you play it in iMovie, then perhaps remove the clip/photo causing the issue, it may be corrupt.

If the movie is playing fine in iMovie, there is no issue with the individual photos/videos, the problem may be with the project file (*.imoviemobile file). Which is causing it not to complete the export and gives an error.

Try this:

- plug phone in to PC using cable and open iTunes.

- open iMovie app on phone, press on projects, then your movie, press the square with arrow UP icon, press itunes, press iMovie Project. This will transfer your project file to iTunes.

- go in to your connected phone in iTunes on PC, on the left click Apps. You will see your phones pages. scroll all the way down to the File Sharing section, under apps click iMovie, you will see your file there. Save it to desktop, rename the file, then add it back in. Now you will have 2 files, original file and renamed file.

- go to iMovie app in phone, press on projects, press square with arrow DOWN icon, press iTunes on bottom and import the NEW filename into iMovie app.

- export the new file to camera roll

Same here, iphone 5s / ipad 2.

I found that the used movie snippet caused imove not to export.

I used a clip from whatsapp chat, iphone was able to play the clip, imported into imovie, imovie also played it back but exporting failed.

Then i tried pinnacle studio on the ipad, imported the clip, tried to export - also fail. Imported again, added a picture before the clip and some text, pinnacle rendered now the movie and exported.

I was able to import that new clip, into imovie and edited etc wihtin imovie, after i have done some changes imovie was able to export the movie without amy problem.

So it might be a system-wide problem with ios 7 as pinnacle got also several problems with some sources.

I found out my problem. I don't know why this happens but when I download a .mov clip from my DSLR from dropbox to my IPhone 5 it won't export the clip. The clip was only 6 seconds long but I am guessing it's too large ? It doesn't export even if I have left it for 40 minutes. I try any clip taken by my phone and that works. The .mov from my dslr also works for playback, and editing, but like you mentioned, exporting does not happen.

I Don't know if this will help anyone, but it solved it for me. I was trying to save an iMovie project with footage from my Nokia 930 phone. I found that the problem was that I was recording the video with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround. When I unchecked that option in the phone settings and used the normal stereo option, everything works as normal.

It Seems iMovie doesn't like rendering videos with a surround sound soundtrack.

I cannot export any iMovie videos to my camera roll!
