why can I not burn a play list to cd ?

I am having trouble buning a play list to cd-r 52x. I receive error message. unable to read mediea on dic, so I tryed slower speed cd-r 24x and received

message, next I tryed dvd-r which was just ejected each time. what am I doing wrong, it it the cd's i am buying.
