Airport extreme wired connection issues

Having trouble with wired connection from a remote AE. My setup consists of an AE base station connected to modem and a second Remote airport extreme in another room set up to extend a wireless network.. I am unable to get Internet access using the ethernet ports of the Remote airport extreme except when I wire to my MacBook Pro. My Slingbox, Windows laptop, direct TV Internet connection will not connect to the Internet. I have green light in the front of the airport extreme and at all three ports where a Ethernet cable is connected.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are both AirPort Extremes the "square" version model (with rounded corners)?

Did this work before and it is not working now, or is this a new setup that you are trying to make work?

Did you remember to turn off the wireless on your MacBook Pro before you connected? If not, then the MacBook Pro is probably connecting using wireless, not Ethernet.

We may need to check more settings on your devices. To do that, we'll need to know what operating system you are using on your Mac. If you are not sure, click the Apple icon at the upper left corner of the screen and then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
