How do I hook up a hard drive to airport extreme? Having trouble.

Hello, I recently bought an Airport Extreme and a Western Digital MyBook Essential 3.0 TB. I want to share this drive on the airport with a 13" Macbook Pro and a 15" HP Ultrabook my wife bought.

Airport is 100% functioning and ready to go.

I checked "Share disks on WAN" and all that... screencap...

Not showing up in Finder where it ought to...? On either computer.

HI - external hard drives with the Extreme can be tricky - these are the things you should consider:

1. If you can't see the drive it may need a powered USB hub - this is recommended since the Extreme USB ports are underpowered.

2. FAT 32 should be compatible for your Mac and PC.

3. You may need to restart the Extreme to get it to recognize the drive.

Once the Extreme is happy with the drive, the drive should be automatically recognized by your computers.
