Configure+Make libmemcached on Mtn. Lion

Has anyone successfully installed libmemcached on 10.8? Or, more to the point, has anyone successfully built a C/C++ client for memcached on 10.8?

I've attempted to build libmemcached on OSX, Linux Mint, and CentOS, and it fails differently on each platform. On OSX there are errors involving assigning a 64-bit value to a 32-bit variable, as well as inability to find some headers. It's a standard configure/make procedure.
