I've been trying all week to update my 3rd generation Apple TV. Seems to download the update but won't install. Any tips on getting this to work. Or is there something wrong with the update.

If it repeatedly fails, have you unplugged the power and tried again?
It should install just fine, but if you have issues after repeated attempts 'restore' it using a microUSB cable to connect to a computer running iTunes and let iTunes install the latest update - this will wipe all settings however.
