I know this post is old. I have an iPod Nano 7g and it doesn't turn on. Just a black screen. I have tried the home/sleep button + home button but that doesn't work. I have tried to turn it on. Nothing. I have left it charging for many many hours. Nothing. I have tried the recovery mode and iTunes method. Nothing. I have tried other cables and charger.
The iPod has not been dropped and no signs of physical damage. I guess the battery is dead.
Leave it to charge for about half an hour, and then if necessary perform a hard reset to try and breathe life into it.
To reset the 7G Nano, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
B-rock
What I did when mine did this was pluged it into the computer. (which was un-responsive) Then I held the home and on/off button for a long time, and it wvwentually turned on.
result ! Thanks
I had the same problem with my nano, i was listening to my nano and after 1 song it shut off. I tried everything to turn it on. held the top button then the middle button...nothing! I tried to plug it in to the computer and it wasn't recognizing my ipod. I called the operator and I would have had to spend $69 for an extended warranty to get help. I've only had this ipod for 3 months and I was getting really angry at the thought that I would have a non-working ipod. I happend to stumble across this response of holding the top and middle button and it worked!!!! thank you so much and you rock Planb77!
While the reset restored mine to operational condition, it bricked while paused on an almost full charge. If it continues to do this, it will go back for a replacement.
Thank you SOOOO much. I thought I lost my iPod forever.
I read another forum that said push power button and volume down for a while and it will turn on. Totally wrong.
But i want to thank you for helping me to resurrect my iPod
:D
Thank you planb77. After a day of charging, unplugging and wondering what went wrong with my brand new Nano, you solved the problem - namely:
To reset the 7G Nano, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
And all my music is still on there - bonus!
Very grateful.
nice one. i thought there was really some serious problem.
but what really happened to the ipod when it wont turn on?
my guess is that the ipod went to hibernate mode after getting fully charged.
what do you think guys?
Thank you 🙂
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I also read where you were suppose to hold the Sleep/awake and volume down button, which totally didn't work. So glad I saw this post. Holding the Sleep/Awake button and the home button got it going!!
I at first thought we just press the home and sleep/awake button at the same time for only a few seconds, but after I read this, I was like "OH!" So I thank you for this info!!!
Why the **** does this work for every one else while not for me haha? I tried doing this multiple times but yet no result 😟
hey long did you hold the lock and home button for?
Thanks a million it works ok now !
