I know this post is old. I have an iPod Nano 7g and it doesn't turn on. Just a black screen. I have tried the home/sleep button + home button but that doesn't work. I have tried to turn it on. Nothing. I have left it charging for many many hours. Nothing. I have tried the recovery mode and iTunes method. Nothing. I have tried other cables and charger.

The iPod has not been dropped and no signs of physical damage. I guess the battery is dead.

I had the same problem with my nano, i was listening to my nano and after 1 song it shut off. I tried everything to turn it on. held the top button then the middle button...nothing! I tried to plug it in to the computer and it wasn't recognizing my ipod. I called the operator and I would have had to spend $69 for an extended warranty to get help. I've only had this ipod for 3 months and I was getting really angry at the thought that I would have a non-working ipod. I happend to stumble across this response of holding the top and middle button and it worked!!!! thank you so much and you rock Planb77!
