It could be next week, it could be never. The fact that many manufacturers, and many cameras, use unique RAW encodings is not really Apple's problem. If your camera's manufacturer doesn't supply a suitable driver, you should complain to them. Apple does strive to support the most popular RAW formats, but the sheer number of possible formats means yours may never be supported.
If your manufacturer has a suitable RAW decoder for Windows, you could try using Parallels or Boot Camp to transcode to a compatible format, and then using those files in OS X.
