iCloudI assume, you already checked, if Faces is enabled in the "General" tab of the Aperture "Preferences" panel. Have you also tried to manually repeat the face detection by selecting the images in the new projects and using the command "Photos > Detect Missing Faces" from the main menu bar?
Then you should see a button "Show unnamed Faces" below the corkboard. Press it. this will show all unnamed faces in the current project, if there are faces in it.
If none of this brought the "Faces" back, you may have a problem with your Aperture library or your preferences. Two simple tests may help to check this:
- Try to import some portraits into a new, empty Aperture Library. Does it work there? Then you should try to repair and rebuild your Aperture Library.
see: Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library - If a new library does not help, try to work from a different user account. If Faces works there, remove the Preferences from your user library.
