Can I download movies from iPhone3 to iMac

When I plug the iPhone3G into the iMac G5 (running OS 10.4.11) my iTunes 9.2 doesn't recognize it. It says I need iTunes 10.1 or better. Preview allows me to download photos, but not movies. Is there a way to download movies? Or do I have to upgrade the system to 10.5+...Or get a new computer.
