Apps are stuck on updating on Iphone 4s

Well, I hope someone out there has a foolproof solution to this problem. Because frankly I'm stumped.

I have Iphone 4S - 32GB - Black - iOS6 .

Lately I have had issues updating my apps. For some reason some apps get stuck on updating. They stay stuck on the update page. Doesn't ever resume on its own. These solutions I have tried:

Restarting the phone
Resetting the phone
Deleting the app (Settings > General > Usage > Storage) and trying to reinstall
Airplane mode (on/off)

I deleted the app(s) in question and tried to reinstall them again and it still says its still trying to install. Any good solutions to fix this problem?

Just a random thought, try clearing your cookies and cache for Safari. Settings > Safari.

Double check to make sure you don't have any downloads waiting in queue for the Podcasts app.

just sign out your apple account, and then sign in... it may help...

Neither solution worked. The App Store still thinks its trying to install the update even tho the app is gone. Any other ideas?

Well I THINK I found the solution. This solution worked for me. Cannot guarantee it will work for everyone.

Make sure you are signed in with your Apple ID.

Go to the App Store
Find the stuck app in question ( it will have a progress bar in the icon) and Say "Installing"
Touch the icon of the stuck app (in the app store)
It will send you to the location of the stuck app on your phone
Touch the icon of the stuck app (If in a folder, open it first)
If all goes well, the status should change to "Waiting" then "Downloading/Installing"
Then it should download as normal.

Again, this solution worked for ME. Feel free to try if you have a similar issue.

This solution isnt very obvious and I purely found this out by accident.

I really hope Apple addresses this issue because if you have Alot of apps (over 600 installed) on your phone it could take forever if you have alot of stuck apps.

These steps did work for me, too. Thanks.

Note it's not necessary to go through the App Store (steps 1-4). If you see the loading bar on the icon, you can just touch it directly.

one scenario where this does not work is if the app is not reachable (off screen) in an app page beyond the limit of 11 pages.

I have over 400 apps on my iphone, so I have as many pages of apps reachable directly by swiping pages, as I have to access only by search...

What does one do in such a case?

Delete some apps, or move into folders to free up icon space, and it appears randomly in one of the empty spaces when you go through the touchy, touchy, touchy process.

Same issue, none of the suggestion work:

- after powering my iPhone off and back on, those apps appear with the updating progress bar stuck at 0% and their title "waiting".

- touching their icon make them flash slightly darker for about half a second, but they stay in "waiting" state.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.2 (trying to avoid upgrading to 6.1.3, but not jailbroken).

I imagine like most of you this started by opening Apps and clicking a dozen or so to update and then wandering off, only to come back later and find all of them stalled at 'waiting'. Restarting, clicking on this and that, deleting apps (I don't want to delete any apps), clicking in apps and watching with frustration as it goes to the app and still sits there stuck, wondering why there is no 'pause' as mentioned many times, then praying, swearing, crying - nothing worked.

Sadly, none of the dozens of suggestions I read on the Internets the last two days worked. I just fixed it though - plugged phone into iTunes. Navigate to device, clicks Apps at the top, click Sync at the bottom... wait for sync to process to complete.

Once done the Apps magically started updating.

You are welcome if that works for you - I'm glad I didn't have to restore either.
