You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.

Really disagree on this one. Why am I forced to buy an upgrade? There

was no message that my current osx would be incompatible or that I had

This is ridiculous!

I won't bother trying to use my new iPad Mini on my macbook (10.5.8) but will instead use it on my daughters Windows PC.

More money grabbing than anything I know, iTunes must be THE most restrictive piece of software going, and the sooner you get rid of it, the better.
