It says 'Your screen shot can't be saved, unable to capture desktop image'
it won't let me command + shift +3 or 4.
It just stopped working today, up until now ive never had a problem with taking screenshots.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

I just had this same problem and figured out a solution that might be helpful. Go to system preferences > keyboard > shortcuts. Then go down and click where it says "screen shots". If the top box that lists the shortcut command isn't filled in, like mine wasn't, that might be your problem. Hope this helps!

Might be corrupted preferences...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the com.apple.Grab.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Try a screen shot.
I couldn't find the 'com.apple.Grab.plist' file.
Luckily i was able to fix it, i think it was because i hadn't gotten the latest update? I'm not sure but i downloaded it and i can take screenshots again.
If it stops working again i'll try your way.

Copy and paste the following lines into your Terminal application after opening it.
