printer / scanner software incompatibility
I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and now cannot use the scan function on my Canon pixma mp450 printer. Any workarounds?

Are your drivers up to date? It looks like they have drivers for Lion and Mountain Lion now.
Click here, see if that works.

Check the Canon site for Mountain Lion v10.8 driver updates you can download and install.
Thank you. Cannon site says scanner is not supported with Mountain Lion. Guess you win some functionality and lose some.
I just found the same problem. I feel like apple has broken my scanner! Unbelievable!! Is that it then... I have to buy a new one?
Apples latest updates have been a disaster.
I ended up downloading the printer software for the 10.7 version of mountain lion from the Canon website. It wouldn't load on the computer because it didn't have the right apple computer signature. So then found a workaround -- hold down a specific key as you open the software -- sorry don't remember which -- and it will let you open it. I think I found this workaround on the Canon website.
It's the Control key. And this can also be configured in the Security System Preferences:
Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere
Thankyou so much!
