7th Gen Nano Bluetooth to PC

I'm able to connect my Nano via BT to my car, but my laptop says it can not find the driver to support my BT device. My PC sees the Nano, and my Nano sees the PC. They've connected via numeric code. But the PC says it can't find the driver. And, without that, the Nano says it can not connect to the PC. Any ideas where the PC should be looking and what it needs to find? Or is there another way to make this BT connection? My PC is an Acer laptop running Windows 7. It is on wi fi, so it has connectivity. This PC does not have Itunes on it, but it shouldn't not it, should it? Shouldn't I be able to make a BT connection without Itunes? I hope so! Thanks!

After initial Bluetooth pairing, I needed to install a different Bluetooth driver in order for my Windows 7 computer to recognize the iPod as an audio source. Depending on the Bluetooth chip/stack on your Windows machine, you may have different options listed.

select your iPod device in Devices and Printers

on the Hardware tab click Properties

look in the Device Functions: column and select the current "audio/video source" --- mine was listed as "Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (source)"...but this driver wasn't working; the iPod refused to connect to the PC.

click Properties

click Change settings

on the Driver tab click Update Driver...

click Browse my computer...

click Let me pick from a list...

choose another driver --- I chose "Bluetooth AV Source" (you may want to uncheck the Show compatible hardware check box if none of the listed "compatible" driver options work)

Voila!

The iPod can now connect to Windows 7 via Bluetooth to play music from the iPod via the Windows 7 speakers.
