Can't connect with my airport extreme! Please help rid me of this orange light!

Has anyone else had trouble getting their airport extreme to work? I plug it in to a confirmed GOOD internet connection (cable modem) and it only gives me an orange light. My mac does not "see" it on the wireless chioces. Can anyone give me some things to try. I know apple is just so simple and plug and play...but this is NOT working, and there are no instructions on what to try if it doesnt connect! HELP!
