I am moving to australia from canada,and plan to buy an iphone5 from canada.will it work properly in australia? Do i need anything specific to make it work there,or any other tips?thanks

Here are the tech specs for Australian iphones. IF your Canadian phone is unlocked and has these specs then it will work with a carrier here.
If you are moving to Australia, then it would be better to purchase your iPhone 5 from Australia rather than Canada. The LTE may not be compatible and may only work on 3G due to frequency differences between countries and also remember that the iPhone warranty is NOT international, so if you purchased the phone in Canada, then if you have any problems, you'll have to fly back to Canada to get them sorted out.
My advice - if you are moving to Australia, then buy your iPhone 5 in Australia instead of Canada, then you can be sure that the phone will work.
The only place, in Canada, to purchase an officially unlocked iPhone 6 is directly from Apple...no where else. While this phone will work in Australia, it will NOT support LTE in Australia. Further, your warranty & support will only be valid in Canada.
Thus, it is best if you wait & purchase the phone in Australia.
How about if i bought iphone 4s fromcanada? Wouldthat be better?because I m only expecting to be in australia for 8-9 months and then return to canada.
Don't know that that would be "better", an iPhone 5 will work just as well as a 4S, if officially unlocked. The warranty/support issue remains the same, regardless of what you purchase, only valid in Canada.
Does iphone 4s use lte as well? Would it work differently in australiathan in canada?because like i said ,i do have to come back to canadaafter 8-9 months,so wouldnt it be better if i bought iphone from canada?
Only iPhone 5 supports LTE. If I were going to purchase a new iPhone, I'd purchase the iPhone 5. It will work just fine in Australia, & if you're going back to Canada in 8 ~ 9 months, then buy it in Canada.
