iPhone 5 not receiving calls or voicemail

My iPhone is not receiving calls or voicemail until I enter the Phone App. This has happened to me at least a half-dozen times (that I know of, I suspect many more). It also happens in Messaging, too.

This latest time, tonight, I called my wife because she sent me an email asking if I had forgotten to take my phone out of Airplane Mode. I had been using for text messaging and the camera, and was surpised to see no missed calls or voicemail, so I called her. After one minute or so, bleep-bleep, missed call and voice mail showed up.

iPhone 5, 64gb, lots of free memory. AT&T. I started over from scratch with this phone as I elected not to restore my iPhone 4 backup. I never, ever had this problem with my 4.

Anyone else have this issue? It is critical that my employer can reach me, and practically a condtion of employment, so this is pretty darn important to me. I have also had my someone call and ask if I got their texts. I open up Messages and as soon as I send one, I receive the missed texts.

Thanks.

From Belgium. I have iPhone 4 without such problems. My wife has iPhone 5 with this problem. We do: Settings - Reset - Reset Network Settings. Several times per day. Additional work for the bigger price. Now my fiwe for several days in Sweden (in place with no Wi-Fi present) and never has this problem. So, it looks like the problem associates with Network Settings. It's possible that it is constructive problem because others models has no this problem with the same iOS version. I hope that the engineers and programmes of Apple will fix it. I believe that they need to broke the relations of "Network Settings" with "phone receiving calls chip of sheme".

So far as of right now, I have been able to get through to my wife's iPhone 5 for six days. Just to clarify, I believe that the issue is an iOS problem, however, I think that it has to be addressed one phone at a time. What I would do if you can is to contact an Apple Genuis at an Apple store or Apple Care and insist that the issue be moved beyond level one or two to an Apple engineer. This seem to be the only way we got resolution (if it lasts). Hope this helps.

My iPhone 5 constantly goes straight to voicemail when people call me. I must miss half of my calls and don't even know it. I'm using Swisscom, and have already changes my simcard, had the Swisscom store reset my phones connection to the network, and reset my phone (sleep/home): none of these did anything. Disabling my voicemail also did nothing. Just instead of callers going straight to voicemail they got a recording saying my phone is not available (even though it always has signal).

I then decided to do a full restore of the phone (backup in itunes, then restore the phone) and this seems to have worked so far, at least for today. I'll let you know if it is a permanent fix.

I started with this problem yesterday, my phone was playing up so apple suggested i do a full restore - all problems started from them i am having to turn the phone on and off to get any messages / missed calls to come through and then after 10 minutes i cant use either function again, wifi is working but if wifi is off i also loose internet access.

Apple have done every type of reset with me over the phone (and i am out of warranty) they said that sometimes if you restore it can loose the handshake between your carier and your phone (I am in England and on Orange) so your provider needs to reset your contract - not sure it will work i am waiting to call Orange after work ??

After 6 months of dealing with the "not receiving calls" issue (not to mention loosing sounds when the bluetooth connects), and more than 24 actual hours of Apple Care calls, Apple Genuis visits, AT&T people, and my wife replacing her iPhone 5 four times, and trying every conceivable idea that anyone including Apple engineers, AT&T decided to replace the iPhone 5 with a Samsung 4S, with some strings attached. She decided to do it, even though she otherwise loved her iPhone. After a week now with the Samsung 4S, we have had zero issues, and she has received every single call. She is actually quite happy and adapting well to the Android Jelly bean, which did concern me before she jumped ship.

There is something very wrong with the iPhone 5. Apple needs to admit it and fix it. We still like Apple products, and they dominate our home, but this has been quite the ordeal and glad that we finally have some resolution even though it wasn't the one we had hoped for.

I bumped into some threads on other forum and my conclusion is that this issue has something to do with certain updates that some carriers are not prepared to make when it comes to iPhones. The same issue happened before with all previous models. Could you guys post the following info about your iPhone?

http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html/

Machine Model: iPhone5,1 Name: iPhone 5 ModelCode: iphone_5 Family name: A1429 Model Number: MD300 Group1: iPhone Group2: Generation: 7 CPU speed: 1.3GHz Screen size: 4 inch Screen resolution: 1136x640 pixels Colour: White Production year: 2013 Production week: 10 (March) Model introduced: 2012 Capacity: 32GB Memory - flavour: xx Factory: DN (China, Chengdu - Foxconn)

My other iPhone is working fine and the only differences between them are that the faulty one is white and the other is black and the black doesn't show this "Memory-flavour: xx". Any clues???

I upgraded recently with AT&T i chose the samsung s4 32 gb .I started not reciving calls from people just voicemail. I exchanged the samsung galaxy s4 for a new one and had thw same problem.I took the second samsung s4 back and got the iphone5.I am still not reciving calls on ithe iphone . What could the problem be?

AT&T? How likely is it that both the iphones and samsungs4 are defective Any one have any cures to this,Thanks In advance.

I doubt the iPhone hardware is defective. I do believe the problem comes from software. In that case, all 4 iPhones could be defective. It could be AT&T, it could be Apple, or it could be both. Again, I have not had the issue with my SGN2 or my wife with the S4. I thought I'd jump back into the conversation, because someone mentioned to me that they thought it was an antenna problem, but with what others are telling me, I still think the problem has to do with the LTE towers that were put up at the same time the problem began.
