app store on iphone 4s ios6 not displaying any apps or returning any search results. same on iphone4 ios6 but not iphone4s ios5(other family members phones). restart or time shift solution has no effect and would like to avoid factory reset if possible.

I have exactly the same problem. But I am not sure how long this problem has existed as I tried to download something today after a long time.

Problem:
Once I tap on the iTunes app, it opens, but I cannot see anything on the screen. No music or movies appear on the home page.
Looks like a software problem. I was checking the forum and it appears that in May 2012, people had trouble with podcasts in iTunes as well.
Ok, apple, pull up your socks and do something.
I have a IPad 2 and it is running IOS6 the app store and itunes store on the ipad are ok. But on my iphone 4s and Ipod 4 Gen i can't see anything on the app store or itunes store.
I just called apple support and they said that the itunes and app store on the Iphone and Ipod is down for maintenance for a few hours it doesn't affect the Ipad. So there is no need to worry hope this helps you.
It's been down all day, not just a few hours. They should have posted this outage info somewhere on their site to let people know what was going on.
Apple must be embarrassed to say something on the forums.

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone 4S. Can't access App Store Application, it keeps on crushing everytime I tried opening it. Has this been addressed already? I also tried restarting my iphone but no lock, app store application still inaccessible.
Can anyone confirm if this is happening only on Wifi or also on cellular?
I have this problem but only on WIFI when using a specific router, not on 3G
Changing the WiFi DNS to 8.8.8.8, worked for me
