My imac won't boot up just shows spinning gray bar and apple icon

thank you for ur reply ,however nothing worked until i took it to the shop and they repaiced for new hard drive with saving all my files 🙂 i also had apple care ,thank God so didnt have to pay for it ,it would cost me 144 pounds !
