why won't my ipod sync with itunes?

When i try to connect it the error saying Error 0x800084 comes up but its charging and its definitely installed because you can see it in the computer tab but its just not syncing with itunes. i dont get it help me please? i cant get it to sync over wi-fi either..

i ahve a feeling that theres something wrong with my usb cable because its been disconnecting and then connecting, but could someone help me please?

iTunes 10.7 is bad, that's why. This is a better solution that the one previously given to you (it worked for me):

This worked for me:

Leave your iPhone connected to your PC then:

Quit iTunes
In task manager click "show processes from all users", sort by description and kill everything "Apple". Also kill the process with the image name AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe
Click Start > Run > in the Open text box copy & paste the following - with the quotes - "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe" and press OK.
Open iTunes
