cannot send emails

Recently, I have been unable to send emails with an error message saying:

'cannot send message using the server: mail.bigpond.com'

I contacted my ISP for email server settings. These are as follows:

Incoming POP server: mail.bigpond.com

Incoming POP mail: port 110

Outgoing SMTP server: mail.bigpond.com

Outgoing SMTP: port 25

Incoming uses SSL: Off (this is required)

Outgoing uses SSL: Off (this is required)

Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Off

I cannot locate where I can select the 'Outgoing SMTP port'.

I can only locate under Preferences / Accounts / Advanced a port: 110, but it does not stipulate outgoing or incoming.

My ISP support told me to contact apple support with this problem.

Can anyone assist?

PS: I am able to receive emails.

This was my case until yesterday. Could receive, but not send. Some wonderful individual whose name I can't quite recall -- HDK or something similar - referred me to my ISP where I found the printout and fixed it. I can now send as well as receive..

Thank you, HDK (?) for your help; it was the step I needed - my ISP has posted the steps which worked.

I am a neophyte at this, but here's how I found my Outgoing SMTP port:

1. Settings

2. Mail, contacts, calendars

3. click on your email carrier - your ISP

4. Scroll down to your Outgoing Mail Server

5. Click on SMTP - your ISP server name

6. Click on Primary Server

7. Scroll down to your Server Port, erase whatever number is there and put in what your ISP told you.

Forgive me if I mis-read your steps and you have done all this, but not seeing "primary server" in your steps led me to suspect this is where you haven't gone yet. Good luck.
