Can I connect to another user's public folder automatically when my computer starts up?

I have a PowerPC G5 (OS X 10.5.8) with a shared folder. I would like to be able to access this folder automatically when I start another computer, an Intel Power Mac (OS X 10.6.8).

Can this be done, and if so, how?

Connect to the folder as you would normally, then make it one of your startup items. You do this in System Preferences (under the Apple menu) > Accounts. See this Apple article.
